Excursions

The Conference Programme offers three alternative excursions for the participants, as interests might be different and the number of simultaneous participation in the tours is limited for technical reasons. Therefore, participants are requested to mark the desired excursion (including accompanying persons!) in the process of registration. Reservations are only valid after payment of the registration fee and will be handled on a first come-first serve basis. Invited Speakers whose fees are waived are also asked to register and mark their desired excursion.

EXCURSION A

By cable car to the top of Hafelekar mountain (2300 m) to visit the historical laboratory of Innbruck University professor Victor Franz Hess, who discovered the cosmic radiation (Nobel prize in physics 1936), followed by a coffee break at Hotel Seegrube (2000 m) with its gorgeous panorama view of the Alps.

Excursions B and C have been joined to one tour due to numbers of participants:

EXCURSION B

Visit to the "Crystal Worlds" of Swarovski, designed by Austrian artist Andre' Heller, showing fascinating constructions made of millions of crystals and a number of other art objects and visit to the historical silver mine at Schwaz, the largest supplier of precious metal in the time of emperor Maximilian I. (15th / 16th century).

Important Note:

Please be prepared to bring adequate clothes, especially shoes. Temperature inside the mine is about 17°C thorughout the year (excursion B) and conditions on the Hafelekar mountain can be rough (rain, snow, strong wind) even during summer time (excursion A).
